Opening Night Event – Warm Water: New Works by Charles Edward Williams.Enjoy a cash bar, light refreshments, and a first look at the these powerful  re-narrated visual works based on the event that sparked the Chicago Race Riot of 1919. UICA. 5:30-9 pm.

The Classical Concert: Viennese Masters. The Grand Rapids Symphony Celebrates its 89th birthday with this special performance of Haydon Symphony No. 89, Mozart Symphony No. 89, and Beethoven Overture to Prometheus.  St. Cecilia Music Center.  8 pm.

Saturday, Jan. 12

Free Cooking Demo at Amore Trattoria Italiana. Renowned chef Jenna Arcidiacono leads a free, hour long cooking demo on how to make healthy homemade soups from scratch in minutes. Amore Trattoria Italiana. 2-3 pm.
