Downtown Market Launches Meal Donation Program
May 15, 2020 01:56PM ● By WLMagazineGRAND RAPIDS, Mich., May 11, 2020 - The Grand Rapids Downtown Market today announced the “Feed the Family | Feed the Frontline” initiative, a program that contributes meals to families in need and essential frontline workers during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Feed the Family | Feed Frontline connects people who want to support those in need in our community with Downtown Market restaurants that need orders, through contributions of any size. A $15 donation feeds one healthcare worker or $60 feeds a family of four.
Frontline facilities that will receive donations include Spectrum Health, Mercy Health, Metro Health, AMR West Michigan, Life EMS, the Downtown Grand Rapids Ambassadors, The Rapid and the Grand Rapids Police Department. The family-focused organization partner is Arbor Circle.
“Everyone in our community needs support right now, and this initiative is an opportunity to reach many in need,” said Mimi Fritz, president and CEO of the Downtown Market. “While a donation provides a fresh meal to a frontline worker or family in need, it also supports a locally owned small business in our Market Hall.”
All donations to the program are tax deductible and will benefit Downtown Market restaurants by enabling them to continue operating while providing fresh meals to the community. As donations are made, the Downtown Market will pair a merchant with a partnered frontline or family organization, and meals are then delivered.
