New ‘globally inspired, locally discovered’ Boutique, Periwinkle Fog, Opens in Downtown Grand Rapids

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich., February 11, 2022 — Downtown shoppers have a welcome new addition to the retail options with the opening of the specialty boutique, Periwinkle Fog, located at 125 Ottawa Street, suite #160 Grand Rapids. The theme for the eclectic selection of premium merchandise is ‘globally inspired, locally discovered,’ and caters to customers with an eye for quality accessories, original art and craftwork, and unique and educational children’s books and games.

Though the store is new, there may be a welcome familiar feel to some. Co-owners Susan Coombes and Lisa Radeck met while working around the corner at the Grand Rapids Art Museum (GRAM) on Monroe Center. Coombes was the longtime store manager and Radeck managed Visitor Services and the Welcome Center located within the museum. With the GRAM Store and Welcome Center now closed, loyal shoppers and visitors who relied on the quality goods and services there have only to walk a half block over to find similar offerings.

Prior to GRAM, Coombes worked in well-known luxury retail stores around the globe, traveling extensively before settling in Grand Rapids. Radeck advocates for local artists, some of her efforts include organizing the Fulton Street Artisan’s Market and co-chairing Festival of the Arts. She also earned her Certified Tourism Ambassador (CTA) credential and has won awards for introducing people to the greater Grand Rapids area.

Combining forces, Coombes and Radeck felt they could offer something people would be drawn towards.

“With our love for travel and unique finds from around the world, and what we know exists in the offerings of the talented artists in our own community here, we knew the combination would make for an amazing place for people to discover these things in one convenient location,” said Radeck. “Add to that our open invitation to visitors and locals alike to stop in to learn more about great things to see and do beyond our doors, and we think people will find Periwinkle Fog to be one of their go-to stops again and again.”

Hours of operation are 10:00am to 6:30pm Monday through Saturday.
