GRAAHI Rhythm Health Fair
Mind, Body and Soul- Promoting melodies of a healthy lifestyle in our community
This event will be held on August 14 from 10am-3pm at Martin Luther King Jr. Park in Grand Rapids and will include a diverse range of resources and activities focused on health. Our goal is to promote melodies of a healthy lifestyle in our community-(mind, body and soul).
This event will allow us to bring the community together in a fun way to learn about various aspects of health, provide important resources, and help build trust between community members, health care providers, government officials, clergy, the Divine 9, and law enforcement.
There will be tables for community members to check their blood pressure and have their blood sugar tested; be tested for COVID-19 and/or receive the COVID-19 vaccine; meet with dentists; consult with doctors to learn about cancer and various other diseases; receive treatment from chiropractors; talk to mental health professionals; and learn from local chefs who focus on culturally relevant nutrition. We will also have giveaways for items such as backpacks and school supplies for families and offer a Zumba class, a style of exercise that combines dance and cardio, led by a certified instructor every hour for community members to try.
We have hosted this event annually for more than ten years, with the exception of 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic. It was previously known as the Rhythm Run 5K and included a 5K and a health fair. Each year, more than 300 community members participate.
Looking forward to seeing you there!
